Will the BJP be able to retain nine seats?

Assam has 14 Lok Sabha and 126 Assembly seats. In 2019 Lok Sabha Elections BJP won 9, Congress 3 and 2 seats other political parties. Himanta Biswa Sharma is the Chief Minister of Assam. Total Voters in Assam is 2.34 crore. Post-delimitation, changes in shape and demography and the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) are expected to impact the outcome in five of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of Assam polls

It is an all-out BJP versus Congress fight in all the other constituencies except Dibrugarh. Jorhat is braced for a BJP versus Congress battle as the saffron party has fielded former state power minister Topon Kumar Gogoi against firebrand Congress leader and former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi.

The CAA, whose rules were framed ahead of the announcement of the election, has been a talking point in the Barak Valley with the BJP defending the legislation as a necessity for persecuted minorities in neighbouring countries and the rivals slamming the BJP as having taken the Hindu Bengalis for a ride with a “nothing” Act.
